You enjoy working with people who do important work in the spheres of community and mental health, consciousness, eco- and social justice at our San Francisco-based University. You will be conducting interviews with activist-scholars, artists, community health leadership, students, alumni, staff, faculty, and community partners to ensure the valuable sound bites are captured.

You will be responsible for video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, rough cuts, audio adjustments, color corrections, motion graphics, animation and final editing using Adobe Premiere.

The successful candidate is able to effectively balance the needs of the creative and technical. CIIS values emotional intelligence and empathy, equity, spirituality, and ecojustice; and takes a holistic approach to making and marketing.

The position reports to the Director.

Job Requirements:
  • Maintain video archives for all CIIS media productions.
  • Oversee the production of closed captions for Marketing and Communications video productions.
  • Maintain and set up filming equipment.
  • Compress/encode video projects for output
  • Make video products available in a variety of formats
  • Understand and be in sync with brand standards
  • Monitor the technical quality of all video media products.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software, specifically Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Final Cut.


  • Two years minimum of production and motion graphics experience.
  • Two years minimum with camera, video, audio, lighting equipment.
  • Understanding of online video environment and online distribution.
  • Experience in documentary film, promotional, or interviewing videos.
  • Access to and use of own transportation.
  • Sense of humor.

Must be able to work inside and outside on our campus in downtown San Francisco (off the Civic Center Bart) and surrounding Bay Area if needed for special shoot.


Salary commensurate with skills and experience.

Additional Information:


Working Conditions -- Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically, Monday through Friday with occasional work on the weekends and evenings.
Physical Requirements -- Lift, grasp, and carry equipment required for film production job. Visual acuity including color vision.
Background Check -- Due to the sensitivity and requirements of our positions, you should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check, if extended an offer for employment. You may also be asked to provide proof of educational degree(s), licenses or credentials pertinent to the position. If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
