Fermilab's Particle Physics Division is seeking a Technician II to join the Detector Development and Operations Department. The selected candidate will be involved primarily with fabrication and assembly. You must be able to become forklift and overhead crane qualified.

You Will
  • Be responsible for the installation and removal of large, multi-ton, experimental components.
  • Be responsible for fabrication, assembly, installation and removal of a variety of mechanical, sub-assemblies, controls, and devices.
  • Operate a forklift, multi-ton capacity crane, and possess a working knowledge of multi-ton rigging.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude i.e. familiarity with power tools.
  • Abide by all environmental, health and safety regulations, Laboratory policies, procedures and practices pertinent to this position.
  • Respect, understand and value individual differences that embody the principles of diversity.

The preferred candidate will possess:
  • High School degree (or technical certificate or equivalent)
  • Experience with fabrication or assembling a variety of mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work a 4 day, 10 hour work day and occasionally over-time on Fridays and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work on a team and independently
