ROLE DESCRIPTIONTITLE:Speech Language Pathology Team LeaderJOB CODE: EXEMPT: NON-EXEMPT: X DATE: REVISED:POSITION SUMMARYThe Speech Language Pathology Team Leader is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician/LIP and Staff. The Speech Language Pathology Team Leader utilizes the care process consistent with their license and certification including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice. Speech Language Pathology Team Leader is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan. Speech Language Pathology Team Leader assists with assignments based on staffing.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: Masters degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed in the State of New Jersey. BLSHCP required.
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience preferred but not required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates knowledge and clinical competency with speech therapy assessment skills, treatment implementation and proficiency with modalities, as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Requires standing much of the day and extensive amounts of assisting, support and lifting of patients. Requires the ability to lift greater than 50 pounds. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Director of Rehab Services.
