Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- As an individual contributor, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Maintains the inventory costing and valuation model with support from Operations.
- Supports working capital initiatives such as improvement in DSO, DPO and inventory turns.
- Recognizes Cost of Sales and helps Operations and Site Management understand the gross margin performance of certain product lines and workflows.
- Partners with Operations and Site Management to analyze P&L and Balance Sheet performance.
- Provides inputs and forecasts for cash management.
- Supports the collection and analysis of critical dashboard metrics.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management and parent company.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations, to EMF's parent company.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- This position will be responsible for running a biweekly payroll using Paylocity.
Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Comfortable presenting information to leaders
- Cash Management
- Experience processing AP/AR
- Familiarity with cost accounting
- Adept at using QuickBooks.
- Experience working in the manufacturing industry.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Four years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to travel as needed.
Reporting:
This position reports direct to the General Manager at EMF, but also has a dotted line to the CFO of our parent company, Omega Optical Holdings. This person will be a part of the Senior Leadership Team at EMF.
