To support Geisel School of Medicine staff and faculty in the area of administrative computing.



Skills & Knowledge
  • Programming experience in SQL based systems.
  • Programming experience in at least one high level language.
  • Web programming experience in server-side language.
  • Experience with SharePoint including InfoPath and SharePoint Designer.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems, including design and maintenance.
  • Ability to interact with Deans, Directors, Fiscal Officers, Faculty, and Administrators as well as other personnel in many different departments.
  • Mastery of HTML.
  • Knowledge of XML.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for ongoing contacts and dependable, timely follow-up.
  • Ability to organize and set priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and to maintain a smooth work flow despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to lead workshops and meetings.
  • Ability to teach groups how to use reporting tools.
  • Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.


Minimum Experience
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in programming and database environment.

  • Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent.

Key Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities

System Analysis

  • Performs System Analysis of administrative functions of the medical school
  • Performs system analysis of sponsored research projects workflow, administration, and reporting needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Works independently on requests for software and report development, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, implementing and modifying these requests.
  • Under self direction, designs, codes, specifies, tests, and supervises the development of software applications.
  • Develops and implements systems/applications after thoroughly testing, debugging and documenting, taking into consideration design and system response variables.
  • Develops controls for verification of data integrity.
  • Manages the installation, modification, and maintenance of new and existing systems as well as designs the interfaces to other Dartmouth administrative systems and networks.

Report Writing

  • Uses report writing tools to prepare interactive, web-based reports for Geisel administrators.
  • Develops, maintains, and supports SharePoint sites.
  • Provides user, operator, and systems documentation for systems installed.
  • Trains users in the use of new systems as well as existing systems. Provides technical assistance in all phases of computer use to administrators, faculty and staff.
  • Responsible for providing training to end-users about running reports.
