Position/Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance & Administration

Reports to: Controller

Status: Full-time; Salaried, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY :

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller. Under general direction, this position is responsible for overseeing and executing the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, cash management, assisting with month close tasks, issuing 1099's, and assisting with the annual audit.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for full cycle accounts receivable to include preparation of all invoices, monitoring and pursuing past due accounts, manage export and import from CRM to accounting software, apply payments.
  • Responsible for full cycle accounts payable to include purchase order entry, processing of vendor bills, corporate credit card reconciliations and payments, and employee expense report reimbursement.
  • Manage and maintain Accounts Payable credit card.
  • Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Process cancelation fees for housing department.
  • Bank reconciliations and cash monitoring.
  • Processing semi-monthly payroll and prepare payroll reports.
  • Calculate sales/use tax and submit report and payment online.
  • Maintain fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
  • Reconcile and maintain prepaid accounts and schedules.
  • Process and audit 1099's at year-end.
  • Process monthly accounts receivable billing statements.
  • Ensure appropriate credit card backup and process monthly credit card payment.
  • Prepares and enters journal entries throughout the month and at month-end.
  • Maintain job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS/EDUCATION:

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience in an accounting or related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and other software.
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems (ex. NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks).
  • Prior payroll experience using automated payroll processing software.
  • Experience managing a corporate credit card program.
  • Experience in non-profit environment beneficial

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to effectively communication in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skilled in identifying and solving problems.
  • Knowledge of records retention requirements.
  • Ability to identify and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and/or prepare financial statements and reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

  • Walk, sit, bend and squat
  • Talk and hear
  • Grab, pull or bend items
  • View items at a close and distant range
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Use computers for extended periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Hybrid environment (60% in-office, 40% remote)
  • Conferences/Seminars
  • Some Travel
