Fermilab's Applied Physics & Superconducting Technology Division (APS-TD) seeks a Quality Engineering Specialist. Under general supervision, implements, maintains, trains, and evaluates quality assurance, environmental, safety, and health programs, procedures and standards in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations, requirements and standards and all Department of Energy (DOE) orders.

You Will:
  • Provide input into solving challenges of varying scope and complexity.
  • Working with the other quality functions within APS-TD, recommend solutions to prevent unwanted work outcomes.
  • Proactively collaborate, support, and advise the APS-TD and Project Teams in the areas of quality program management, assessment planning/execution, risk management, and issues management.
  • Lead QA Assessment activities in various areas and conduct Effectiveness Reviews.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, risk analyses, and generate recommendations for effective issue resolution.
  • Incorporate and apply basic risk management principles into work solutions.
  • Review and assess subcontractor, vendor, and partner quality assurance programs/plans for adequacy.
  • Apply a graded approach to the implementation of quality controls.
  • Support activities to maintain and continually improve the APS-TD and Project quality programs.

We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field OR Master's degree in engineering or business administration preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in Quality or related discipline.
  • Experience with conducting root cause analyses and
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles, FMEA, and Risk Management.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OSHA, EPA, DOE Regulations and Requirements.
  • Ability to work as a team member and as an independent contributor.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by applying the best quality assurance practices.
  • Creative self-motivators who are advocates for change and improvement.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (English).
