POSITION SUMMARIES

Pharmacy Clinical Supervisors:

The Clinical Supervisor develops, implements, and monitors clinical initiatives and medication management policy around the use of antimicrobial agents throughout the organization. The Supervisor plans and creates therapy endpoints, reviews and monitors published updated guidelines. The supervisor will also provide new treatment options, provides accurate and comprehensive drug information, to healthcare professionals, and develops new clinical programs and projects.

The Clinical Supervisor will serve as the Pharmacy Residency Program Director (RPD) according to accreditation requirements set forth by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The Clinical Supervisor is assigned P&T subcommittee co-chair of the Antimicrobial Management Team. This Supervisor will manage specific initiatives assigned by Pharmacy Leadership based on the needs of the pharmacy department and organization.

The Supervisor will engage in clinical staff settings for a minimum 1 day per week.

Chief Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) Investigator:

The Chief CDS Investigator will supervise and coordinate all potential diversion assessments and investigations for the organization, inspections of all AtlantiCare sites that maintain medications for safety and security, and assist all business units in regulatory adherence and compliance for medication management, specifically Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS). This position collaborates with legal, risk, security, and human resource departments in regard to CDS related concerns and incidents. This position attends the Opioid Management and Diversion Steering Committee (OMD).

Procurement Pharmacy Supervisor (Buyers Team):

The Procurement Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the processes and strategy of the acquisition of the AtlantiCare Pharmacy inventories. This position must maintain an in-depth expertise on the assigned applications, systems or services. This position will work with the Manager of Pharmacy Informatics to provide mechanisms to ensure a steady supply of medication in compliance with AtlantiCare policies. This position is responsible for the management and consistency of the medication supply chain across the health system based on new or existing contracts, current drug shortages, changes to the ARMC Formulary and integration with Pharmacy technology, all with a keen eye for medication safety. This position works in collaboration with the Procurement Department Director and Analyst on various supply chain initiatives. The Procurement Pharmacist provides supervision to the Procurement Pharmacy Technicians.

IT Pharmacy Supervisor:

The IT Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the functionality of the computer based pharmacy systems. This position must maintain an in-depth expertise on the assigned applications, systems or services. This position will work with the Manager of Pharmacy Informatics and the AtlantiCare Information Technology (AIT) System Administrators for the innovative enhancement of the system and its functionality. This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation and modifications of new and/or existing systems. The IT Pharmacy Supervisor provides supervision to the IT Pharmacy Technicians.

IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor:

The IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for oversight of compounded sterile products in the ARMC inpatient locations. The supervisor will ensure compliance with all regulatory and best management practices involving sterile compounding. The Supervisor works with the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager to ensure that staff working in our sterile compounding environment, maintain exceptional aseptic technique to assure safe and appropriate pharmaceutical care for our patients. The ability to provide leadership and education is expected. The Supervisor serves as a liaison for staff members who work in the clean room environment and as a facilitator for the initiatives from the management of ARMC Pharmacy.

The IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor must demonstrate the ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. This position must also demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff required. The IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor will handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule required. This position sets priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, acute care, psychiatric, oncology and obstetric patients. The IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor must also demonstrate the ability to evaluate medical literature

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Degree from accredited school of pharmacy required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required. Advanced Certification, Residency or Advanced Degree is preferred or as mandated by ASHP or other governing agencies. The IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor is required to obtain and maintain IV Room Certification.

EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

IT Pharmacy Supervisor

Minimum 2 years Staff Pharmacist experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Applications required. A minimum of 2 to 4 years of application and systems experience is necessary, demonstrating technical independence and innovative integration.

Management experience preferred.

IV Room Pharmacy Supervisor

Minimum 2 years Staff Pharmacist experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Applications required. Substantial sterile pharmaceutical compounding experience required. Strong operational pharmacy background required.

Knowledge of current aseptic regulations and best practices (including USP 797, USP 800, and NJ Board of Pharmacy Regulations required.

Management experience preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The Pharmacy Supervisor will demonstrate the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials is negligible. Potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions). Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.

Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of a computer keyboard). May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor; to remove and replace items on lower shelves; to file documents in lower file drawers). Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) are often necessary. Normal range of hearing and vision required to perform work and communicate.

These positions report to the department leadership and supervise incumbents as assigned.
