Position Summary:

The Manager, Diversity Hiring and Outreach develops innovative recruitment strategies and practices to increase the diversity among faculty, staff, and administration. The Manager establishes diversity networks and builds relationships to enhance and promote RFU as an employer of choice. The Manager develops and provides training to hiring managers and search committees to ensure fair and equitable hiring practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works closely with Manager, Human Resources to manage the hiring process for all faculty and staff.
  • Partners with hiring managers and search committees to develop job descriptions, advertisements, and recruitment sources to attract diverse applicants.
  • Works closely with hiring managers and search committees to ensure equitable hiring processes by increasing awareness of and removing bias in the recruitment process.
  • For faculty hires, reviews Faculty Search policy with hiring manager and search committee and trains diversity advocate on their role and responsibilities.
  • Develops training and other resource materials to educate hiring managers on inclusive interviewing strategies and fair hiring practices. Delivers training on a regular, consistent basis.
  • In collaboration with the HR and Marketing teams, develops an employer brand that will attract diverse applicants and position the University as an employer of choice for underrepresented people of color. Applies this branding across all mediums of advertising and promotion, including career pages of website, job posting services, community partners, etc.
  • Creates and maintains partnerships with diverse community organizations and influencers to establish, promote, and expand the Universitys outreach and employer brand to more segments of the community.
  • Produces metrics, monitoring, and reporting systems to effectively benchmark organizational progress in diversity and inclusion including hiring, promotion, and retention. Responsible for managing the ongoing Affirmative Action Plan working closely with the AAP consulting firm to ensure compliance for the university.
  • Represents Human Resources on diversity committees throughout the University and participates in accreditation efforts where diversity information related to employees is tracked and reported.
  • Participates in diversity job fairs or other community events as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience
  • College degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience in recruitment, hiring, or diversity-related program management
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • At least two years of experience focused on cultivating diverse candidate pools and driving equitable recruitment practices
  • Demonstrated success partnering with diversity organizations and professional associations
  • Demonstrated track record with innovative sourcing methods via networking, social media, referrals, and direct recruiting
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently while paying close attention to detail
  • Team player with good judgment; understands the importance of confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of related experience as noted above
  • Some education or certification in human resources, DEI or other related field.
  • Some experience working in higher education
