Amgen's 10 - 13 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity to gain experience in drug development and translational research.

The Genome Analysis Unit (GAU) is seeking a highly motivated graduate student in the area of computational biology, working remotely to further our mission of drug target discovery and validation in support of the Amgen therapeutic pipeline. In particular, we are interested inleveraging single cell immune profiling to elucidate the crosstalk between tumor cells and tumor infiltrated immune cells and the response to immunotherapeutic intervention.

The successful intern will perform independent research within the context of a highly collaborative environment and with access to state-of-the-art technologies and resources, including single cell genomics, human genetics, and in vitro/in vivo models of tumor-immune cell interactions.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Master's internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master's OR Pharm D OR PhD program before internship starts

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree Concentration in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or Data Science
  • Expertise in NGS data integration and analysis
  • Experience with single-cell genomics analysis
  • Proficiency with standard computational biology tools and methods
  • Proficiency with R, an additional programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C/C++), and working in a Unix-based AWS environment
  • Expertise in cancer genomics and immunology
