Job Description:

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is seeking a current student for a summer Thomas S. Johnson internship opportunity. The internships, established in honor of Thomas S. Johnson, Chairman Emeritus of IIE's Board of Trustees, are designed to expose students to the day-to-day operations of a leading international education and exchange not-for-profit that values diversity equity and inclusion. IIE internships allow students to gain insight into the field of international education, learn about career opportunities and establish a network.

IIE's Fulbright Team is seeking an intern to update and relaunch our Fulbright Fundamentals training and staff mentorship program. Fulbright Fundamentals is a series of trainings, documents and information designed to help onboard new team members to their work on Fulbright programs and includes a mentorship component that pairs senior and junior team members within the ~150 person team to build relationships, provide leadership development and professional growth to further success in our roles.

Working with our Fulbright Project Specialist, the intern would get a unique overview of Fulbright's multifunctional team while updating existing Fulbright Fundamentals materials and revamping/initiating round two of our staff mentorship program. The intern would use lessons learned from the last round of mentorship and / or research on best practices in mentoring to pair mentors and mentees for the second iteration of the program.

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

• Review and update Fulbright Fundamentals onboarding materials and resources.
• Survey team members to gather feedback and interest in mentorship program.
• Update mentorship specific materials tailored to Fulbright House.
• Organize and facilitate mentorship matches.

Internship period:

• Summer internships will take place between late May 2023 and early August 2023.
• Internships may be 8-10 weeks in duration up to 35 hours per week with core working hours 9am - 5pm EST but subject to flexibility.

Pay rate:

• $17.00 per hour.

Job Requirements:

Educational Requirement:

• A multidisciplinary undergraduate/graduate student matriculated at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong writing skills.
• Aptitude for taking initiative, managing varied projects and timelines, and working across teams.
• Interest or experience with mentoring programs, leadership development, or cross-cultural programs / initiatives.
