Position Summary

Information Technology Services at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a full-time Desktop Support Technician I position. Under general direction, this position provides front line support to the Universitys faculty and staff by maintaining a safe and reliable computing environment within the Rosalind Franklin community.

The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides students, faculty, and staff with technology resources and support services that foster the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Rosalind Franklin University. Our vision is to be an enabler of innovation and a valued community partner that enhances the education of future health care professionals, assists researchers in the process of scientific discovery, and improves the technology skills of the RFU community.

ITS is responsible for the planning, management, and direction of technology initiatives in support of the academic and administrative operations at RFU. We are committed to developing and maintaining highly effective, reliable, secure information systems that support instructional, administrative and research functions.

ITS is composed of professional staff spread across multiple teams with a common set of skills and ambition, and a desire to collaborate both internally and externally with the RFU community. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform basic computer and/or peripheral set-ups.
  • Review, prioritize and resolve Helpdesk requests.
  • Manage assigned workloads within designated work queues while providing adequate documentation of work in progress.
  • Transfer and/or move computer assets as needed.
  • Perform basic hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range of PC and apple computer systems and peripherals.
  • Evaluate existing computer systems hardware/software and perform system upgrades based on clients needs and resolve configuration conflicts and errors.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve hardware and associated software issues.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • IT education or training, or comparable experience in a role performing technology or customer service duties
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in current Microsoft Windows and Office products/platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate technical information to nontechnical people.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
