Under the supervision of Program Director and in coordination with the Development Director, the Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating key components to support the successful execution of fundraising events and program activities including community-based screenings, Big Ask Big Give, Fellows Research Forum, Renal Roundtables, Your Kidneys & You, Kidney Walk, Kidney Cars, auctions, social media, volunteer recruitment, and other initiatives.

This relationship should be characterized by effective communications, a positive attitude toward the growth of the Foundation and the achievement of its mission, through mutual understanding of the goals and development objectives of the National Organization and recognition of regional priorities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes assigned projects for the implementation of programs that include community-based screenings and education programs such as Big Ask Big Give, Fellows Research Forum, Renal Roundtables, and Your Kidneys and You.
  • Executes assigned components for the Kidney Walk and other fund raising as opportunities arise.
  • Oversees marketing of the Kidney Cars program in the National Capital Area.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers and interns for both fundraising and programmatic activities. Coordinates volunteer schedules.
  • Executes social media and media relations as well as managing the creation, distribution, and results analysis for e-blasts and impact communication.
  • Oversees World Kidney Day/National Kidney Month planning and celebrations.
  • Assists with some aspects of the NKF fundraising database.
  • Assists Development and Program staff with event logistics.
  • Maintains updated spreadsheet of media contacts and drafts press releases.
  • Works closely with the Creative Services department to create and update local marketing materials.
  • Updates local website to reflect all current activities, events, and information.
  • As assigned, attends committee meetings, and prepares meeting minutes.
  • Performs additional duties and special projects, as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum one year of job-related experience.
  • Experience in a health care field or with a voluntary health organization is preferred.
  • Experience generating social media content.
  • Prior experience coordinating special events and programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and function independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Must be flexible for overnight travel with reliable transportation.
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.
