Reports To: Assistant Director of Shocker Stores
Location: Shocker Store at Braeburn Square

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Assists Assistant Director to supervise and coordinate activities of retail sales workers of the Shocker Store at Braeburn Square. Helps to ensure that excellent customer service, correct inventories, and profitability are achieved. This position requires understanding of retail accounting practices and Microsoft Office. This position also requires a basic knowledge of retail management. Requires strong organizational and leadership skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Processing sales transactions through accurate and efficient operation of the cash register or e-commerce system, including handling large sums of money, making change with US currency, processing credit card, and other forms of direct bill charges.
  • Assist the Assistant Director and Retail Buyer in directing and supervising employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or in performing services for customers.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
  • Instruct staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales.
  • Examine merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed and that it functions as advertised.
  • Work collaboratively with staff.
  • Perform work activities of subordinates, such as cleaning and organizing shelves and displays and selling merchandise.
  • In conjunction with the Retail Buyer, ensures products are adequately priced, received, and entered the inventory controls system.
  • Develops and collaborates with the Assistant Director and Retail Buyer to create and execute marketing and promotions geared specifically to the location.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, or 2 years related retail experience or training.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Required to use close vision and be able to focus. Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand and bend at the knee and waist, and walk. Must be able to have good hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and to push/pull up to 200 pounds. Ability to hang merchandise, move floor fixtures and brackets, and push merchandise carts. This includes reaching up or down, kneeling, stooping, stacking and organizing merchandise boxes, opening packages, and preparing packages for loading and shipment. Good attention to detail. Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong organization and ability to manage staff effectively. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Exposed to moderate noise levels in retail conditions. Frequently required to talk and listen to other individuals.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of POS system.
Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of conflict management skills.
Computer knowledge using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any other work related software.
Ability to lead, build, motivate, and provide direct supervision of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
People and customer management skills.
Proven successful experience in store management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
Ability to write professional reports and business correspondence to students, faculty, and management team.

10am-7pm Monday - Friday, Some weekends.
