Position Description

The Department of Biological and Behavioral Sciences at Fontbonne University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology with a focus in Plant Biology to begin August 2023. This position will primarily support our programs in Biology (BS and MS) and One Health (BS). The successful candidate will be broadly trained with dual expertise in plant sciences and microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and/or other sub-fields.

Teaching responsibilities are four undergraduate courses per semester.

Other responsibilities include supervising undergraduate and masters level research, academic advising, and participation in departmental and university service.

Qualifications - Required

  • PhD in Biology, Botany, or closely-related field, with demonstrated research experience with plant biology.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in teaching Plant Biology and courses related to the candidates secondary area of expertise
  • Dedication to working closely with a diverse community of undergraduate and masters level students.

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Postdoctoral research experiences, teaching full-time courses including, but not limited to, Plant Biology, General Biology - Diversity of Life, General Biology Cell Structure & Function, and other disciplinary-specific courses.
  • Experience advising undergraduate students.
